Denise Walker, Pastor/Executive Director

Denise grew up on a turkey farm in southwestern Ontario.   It was there she started going to Sunday School at The Salvation Army – and where she first learned God loves her – a fact that has never left her – but sometimes she’s found hard to believe!   As a kid she dreamed of being a movie star or a geologist or an archeologist or a hairdresser…or…well, she finally settled on Broadcasting and graduated in 1984 from Niagara College in Welland, Ontario.    It was in her second year of college that she surrendered her life to Jesus – and she’s been on an amazing faith journey ever since.  Denise worked for Canada’s only national daily Christian talk-show – “100 Huntley Street” for an incredible 7 ½ years – the highlight being her years as Associate Producer/Director of a kids show – “Kingdom Adventure”.   In that place she got to know our awesome Creator God – the one who offers abundant life – rich and full – and performs miracles in the lives of His people even today!   In her final years there Denise began to sense God’s call on her life to become a Salvation Army Officer. She is a “Crusader for Christ” – commissioned in 1994.  She’s  been part of the ministry in Calgary, Alberta/ Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia,  the beautiful country of Bermuda, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Regina, Saskatchewan, Williams Lake, British Columbia, Territorial Headquarters in Toronto Ontario – where her focus was on the production of a children’s discipleship program – Ready to Serve.   Over the past years she has come to know God in ways she could never have imagined! Jesus – God of deep love and intimacy – eager to have her know Him more and more.   So she’s still on the journey – seeking Him and finding Him – loving Him and being loved by Him.
